Sasha Keys

As a queer multidisciplinary artist, I create interconnected worlds through watercolor, storytelling, and music. My ongoing series, Blooming Crabs, explores the space where vulnerability and resilience coexist. Delicate flowers bloom from the eyes of armored crabs, growing into human senses as symbols of empathy, curiosity, and the desire to experience the world more deeply.

Watercolor is central to my practice. Its transparency, fluidity, and unpredictability allow me to balance intention with chance, mirroring the emotional complexity of being human. Rather than illustrating individual stories, I build an evolving visual mythology in which each painting expands the same universe while remaining a complete work on its own.

Through surreal imagery, I invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and rediscover tenderness, imagination, and the courage to remain emotionally open in a world that often rewards armor.
